Dean Mohsen Mostafavi has announced the appointment of Jeffry Burchard as Assistant Professor in Practice of Architecture, effective July 1, 2017.
Jeffry has served as a design critic at the GSD since 2012 and offers instruction in core architecture studios, professional practice, thesis, and independent studies. He regularly lectures and publishes in academic and professional settings on topics including material dexterity, existing building transformation, and architecture’s imprecision, and has served as an invited studio critic throughout North America.
Jeffry will continue in his role as Principal at Machado Silvetti, designing and leading domestic and international architecture, urban design, and master-planning projects. His recent work includes award winning projects for New York University, the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida, and the 21 million square foot Tun-Razak Exchange master plan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Currently he is working on the entirely new Vietnamese-German University near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, additions and transformations to the Denver Art Museum, and a new teaching museum for Pomona College in Claremont, California. Jeffry’s design work and writing has been featured in publications including IntAR, Architect, Divisare, Clog, Clarin, Domez, and Lera.
