Biography

Victoria Gigena was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1995 she graduated with a degree in Architecture from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. From 1995 to 2000 she was a partner at D’Angelo Gigena Rohm Arquitectos where she designed residential developments in the Buenos Aires area.

Ms. Gigena pursued post graduate studies and in 2000 graduated with a Master of Design Studies degree, with Distinction, from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. In June 2001 she accepted a position in the Architectural Department of Sasaki Associates, a firm specializing in architecture, landscape architecture and planning of institutional and academic facilities. Over the course of the next few years she worked as project designer on several institutional projects in the United States and abroad including a classroom building in Cairo, Egypt; a student center in Kingston, Canada; a hotel in China and two libraries in the United States. Ms. Gigena was named Senior Associate at the firm in 2005 and was project architect and project manager of a new 86,000 sf resource center and a 160,000 sf student center renovation for a Community College in Cleveland, Ohio.

In 2007 Ms. Gigena moved back to Argentina where she accepted a position as director of the new Buenos Aires branch of Machado and Silvetti Associates. She was the job captain of the Argentinean team on the project for Forty West, a 830,000 sf residential complex in Westown Cairo that included housing and retail space, an office building and a hotel. She managed the Concordia Cultural Center competition, the Reconquista Civic Center competition and a 390,000 sf office building competition project for Banco Ciudad. Ms. Gigena is currently leading the Argentinean team on the Hamilton College Theatre and Studio Arts building.
