American University of Beirut Master Plan
Description
Designed in collaboration with Sasaki and MGT of America, the American University of Beirut Master Plan accommodates future growth across the 70-acre site in West Beirut, Lebanon. Situated on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the century-old campus includes more than 80 academic, residential, and administrative buildings, primarily of neo-Moorish and modern design.
The master plan sets out development guidelines for architecture, landscape, and urban design, encompassing a new business school, sports center, and an expanded medical campus. It improves the campus infrastructure and landscape, and proposes new classroom buildings and parking structures—all while enhancing the site’s lush setting and dramatic views of the sea from its steep hillside perch.
