Westown Development Project
Description
Located within the recently planned Sheikh Zayed City, one of Cairo’s fastest growing satellite communities, this mixed-use city center development currently accommodates roughly 50,000 residents—a number expected to reach 500,000 within ten years and ultimately projected at 3.5 million.
The Westown development establishes the nucleus of a city center for the emergent urbanization of Sheikh Zayed City. The master plan creates a high level of ground coverage while maintaining a thoughtful balance of open and green spaces. Using varied architectural styles, the design lends each neighborhood within the development a separate identity, reflecting social and cultural diversity while establishing a strong sense of place and belonging within the city.
