Stephanie Randazzo Dwyer, AIA

Stephanie is an architect and Principal at Machado Silvetti. Building on thirty years of experience in the field, Stephanie is embedded in the day to day management and vision of the company while overseeing many of the firm’s cultural and educational projects.  In addition to her work creating new cultural, institutional, commercial and public projects, Stephanie has special expertise and interest in the re-use of existing buildings and working within historic contexts.  Stephanie’s curiosity and interest in the dynamic relationship between contemporary work within existing structures began at an early age in Buffalo, New York, surrounded by some of the most impressive industrial and Art Deco buildings - and one of the largest modern art museum collections - in the country.

Stephanie came to Boston to begin her architectural career in 1995.  Five years later, she joined Machado Silvetti Associates to work as a designer on Harvard’s Graduate Student Housing Project at One Western Avenue. Following the success of that project, Stephanie went on to serve as Project Designer on several projects including The Headhouses at Boston’s Dewey Square, a visitor Center for the Rockefeller Stone Barns, the  Hassayampa Academic Village Mixed Use Dormitories at Arizona State University, Civic Building and Veteran’s Plaza, The Kennedy Center for Theatre and Studio Arts at Hamilton College, a Master Plan for the Al Ain Cultural Quarter, and the Chazen Museum of Art for the University of Wisconsin.  In 2015 Stephanie was named a Principal of Machado Silvetti, and assumed leadership roles on individual projects while also focusing on the office’s marketing efforts.  Among other responsibilities, Stephanie was the Project Architect and Manager for a group of cultural projects, including the McNay Art Museum Master Plan and the University of North Texas Center for Visual Arts and Design. The Denver Art Museum, designed with Jorge Silvetti and Jeffry Burchard, opened in 2022, and has received multiple awards including The American Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum, the Community Preservation Award from Historic Denver, and the Best Jumbo Glass Project from the Glass Magazine Awards.  Today, Stephanie continues to focus on planning and programming for arts and cultural facilities, and has become known for her capacity for transforming deep listening into built work,  as demonstrated through her designs for projects such as the Menokin Foundation’s Glass House Project, The Tides Institute Masonic Hall Renovation, The New Bedford Art Museum and The New Bedford Whaling Museum.

As an advocate for advancing the architectural profession, Stephanie is an active member in the Boston Society for Architects Women’s Principal Group and their Mentorship program. Stephanie is a licensed architect, member of NCARB and the AIA, and continues to pursue her love of historic contexts and for helping cultural and academic institutions program, plan, re-think and create spaces that incorporate art and innovative learning. She is a frequent invited speaker at conferences and institutions, where she shares the firm’s strategies for thoughtful programming, historic sensitivity, and material innovations.

Stephanie studied architecture at the State University of New York at Buffalo where she received a Bachelor of Professional Studies and a Master's degree in architecture. While at Buffalo, Stephanie held leadership positions on the student board, managed the School’s Friends of the School of Architecture and Planning group and served as New York State’s AIA student representative.
