BPS DESE Renovations
West Roxbury Educational Complex Feasibility Study
Emily is an Associate at Machado Silvetti and participates in and manages design and documentation of cultural and educational projects at Machado Silvetti, applying expertise as a registered architect and LEED AP BD+C certified professional.
Emily moved from Finland to Texas at five and was drawn to design through experiencing contrasts – in climate, culture, and geography. Her work is motivated by contextual research, striving for elegant design solutions by delving into cultural, technical, environmental, and programming issues. Emily employs expertise in computation and material tectonics. Emily has experience on diverse projects, ranging from park pavilions (Cary Downtown Park) and museums (Denver Art Museum) to educational and municipal work. She is currently the project manager for two local projects, the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and BPS DESE School Renovations, both headed into construction this summer.
Emily is involved in outreach at Machado Silvetti by managing Northeastern Co-op Internships, UVA Externships, and Habitat for Humanity Volunteering. She is an adjunct professor at Northeastern, and further engages with the academic community through publications, exhibitions, and public presentations, recently as a Cameron Visiting Artist lecturer at Middlebury College.
