Machado Silvetti has been selected to lead master planning efforts for the New Bedford Whaling Museum (NBWM). The master plan will provide guidance for the revitalization and potential reconfiguration of the museum’s existing facilities, as well as exploring options for expansion on a newly acquired adjacent site. The guiding vision for these efforts is to incorporate a campus of interconnected but distinct buildings, “into one visitor-centric building.” The New Bedford Whaling Museum is a dynamic institution that seeks to ignite learning through explorations of art, history, science and culture rooted in the stories of people, the region and an international seaport.
